The Chicago Cubs began a 3-game road series with the San Diego Padres on Monday. On the mound for the Cubs was left-hander Matthew Boyd, coming a few weeks off being placed on the injured list with a bicep injury.
In the bottom of the 1st inning, Boyd faced off against Ramón Laureano on a 2-1 count. The pitch was outside, and Boyd requested a challenge call. But once the replay showed that the ball was outside, the call was quickly reversed, per Talkin’ Baseball.

The Cubs will play the Padres up until Wednesday. Afterward, they will be back at home for a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, beginning on Friday.
