On Saturday, the New York Mets are taking on the Athletics in the second game of their three-game series. The Mets defeated the Athletics on Friday night to snap a one-game losing streak. Prior to Wednesday's loss to the Miami Marlins, the Mets won each of their previous six games, including a three-game series sweep against the Toronto Blue Jays.
To begin the season, the Mets are 9-4 and sit atop the National League East. In their first year of the Juan Soto era, things are looking solid for the Mets. However, the team made an injury announcement during Saturday's game that will be important to monitor.
The Mets are off to a hot start to the 2025 season, and they will look to continue their momentum during their series against the Athletics. However, the Mets announced that CF Jose Siri suffered a left shin contusion and was removed during Saturday's game. Furthermore, the team announced that he is considered day-to-day.
"Jose Siri was removed from today's game with a left shin contusion and is day-to-day," the Mets wrote on X.

After spending parts of three seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, Siri was traded to the Mets during the offseason in exchange for P Eric Orze. In his first nine games in New York, the 29-year-old is batting .050 with one RBI, four walks, and eight stolen bases.
Siri's next opportunity to suit up will be on Sunday during the Mets' series finale against the Athletics. However, if he is still unable to go, his next chance to return will be when the Mets go on the road and take on the Minnesota Twins.
