Mets’ Carlos Mendoza Announces Francisco Lindor News Before Rockies Game

Despite losing two of their last four games, the New York Mets have been one of the most successful teams over two months into the season. They are 39-24, and only the Chicago Cubs have a better record than they do in the NL.

After losing in the NLCS to the eventual champion Los Angeles Dodgers last year, the Mets are making a statement this season. They are still among the top teams in the league, and they will be a team to monitor the rest of the way.

Unfortunately for New York, they are not at full health at the moment. Star shortstop Francisco Lindor is out after suffering a toe injury. He did not play on Thursday and will sit out Friday night's game against the Colorado Rockies.

Prior to Friday's game, manager Carlos Mendoza made a major announcement regarding the 31-year-old.

Lindor is currently in the midst of his fifth season with the Mets and has been one of the top players in the NL since his arrival. Last year, he finished second in NL MVP voting, and he is crucial to New York's success, which makes his injury more unfortunate for the team. However, it seems that he could make his return sooner rather than later.

According to Mendoza, Lindor is feeling "a little bit better" as he nurses his toe injury and could make his return to the lineup on Saturday or Sunday.

"Francisco Lindor (broken toe) is feeling 'a little bit better,' per Carlos Mendoza, who 'wouldn't be surprised' if Lindor is back in the lineup Saturday or Sunday," Mets beat write Anthony DiComo wrote on X. "Lindor tested his toe with some running this afternoon."

This season, Lindor is hitting .279 at the plate with 14 home runs and 36 RBIs. The Puerto Rico native plays a big role in New York, so it is important for him to make his return as soon as possible. Luckily for the team, it seems that he could be back in the lineup by the end of the weekend.
