The New York Mets' injury-plagued starting rotation is about to get a little healthier.

Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza announced that Christian Scott is expected to be activated off the injured list this weekend after a short stint on the shelf.

Scott was placed on the injured list on June 15 with a right hip impingement after experiencing discomfort following his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals on June 11. At the time, the Mets said the injury was considered minor, and with Saturday being the first day he is eligible to be activated, Scott is now slated to be inserted back into the rotation.

It goes without saying that New York's rotation has been decimated by injuries and inconsistency, which has been the prime result of their disappointing season.

The Mets' biggest loss in their rotation has been Clay Holmes, who suffered a fractured fibula on May 15. Prior to that injury, Holmes cemented himself as the ace of their staff, posting a 2.39 ERA in nine starts. Since then, the Mets have had to rely heavily on openers in some instances and have seen the likes of David Peterson, Freddy Peralta, and Nolan McLean not produce any length, further taxing the bullpen.

President of baseball operations David Stearns also met with reporters on Tuesday, calling the Mets' current stance on their rotation a "turn-by-turn" evaluation.

New York will now hope the return of Scott can provide some stability for what has become a very fragile Mets rotation this season. In nine starts, the 27-year-old is 2-0 with a 3.10 ERA, 47 strikeouts and a 1.35 WHIP in 40.2 innings pitched.

Scott was a fifth-round pick of the Mets in the 2021 MLB Draft. He quickly rose through the ranks of the minor leagues to make his MLB debut in 2024.

Scott missed all of the 2025 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
