Mets Pitcher Scratched From Start With Unfortunate Injury

The New York Mets will be without Robert Stock for Wednesday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles after the right-hander was scratched from his scheduled start with finger numbness.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reported the development on X, with Stock subsequently placed on the 15-day injured list. The move creates another pitching issue for a Mets team dealing with limited options late in the season.

Stock finishes his 2026 campaign with a 1-3 record, a 5.93 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP. He struck out 29 batters across 30.1 innings while working primarily as a depth option for the Mets.

Robert Stock, tonight’s scheduled Mets starter, won’t pitch after all. The team placed him on the injured list due to numbness in his fingers. Xzavion Curry will start in Stock’s place.

New York also lost reliever Daniel Duarte to a hamstring injury during Tuesday night’s game. Duarte hurt himself while rushing to cover home plate on a wild pitch in the 10th inning.

The injury ends a strong late-season stretch for Duarte. After the Mets made changes to their roster at the trade deadline, the right-hander emerged as one of their more reliable bullpen options.

Duarte posted a 2.12 ERA and 0.81 WHIP with 30 strikeouts over 29.2 innings. His absence leaves another hole in a bullpen that will now have to rely on additional depth.

The Mets recalled Xzavion Curry from Triple-A Syracuse to take Stock’s roster spot and make the emergency start. Curry has appeared in eight games for New York this season, posting a 3.44 ERA as a reliever.

Curry has primarily worked as a starter in the minors, making 13 starts in 15 appearances for Syracuse. That experience should help as the Mets turn to him on short notice.
