Mike Trout is the Angels' Center Fielder, Says GM Perry Minasian

Rumors surrounding the future of superstar Mike Trout with the Los Angeles Angels have swirled all offseason long. However, time and time again, general manager Perry Minasian has shot them down.

While it's been clear that Trout was here to stay in Orange County, it wasn't exactly clear what position he would be playing — the signing of center fielder Aaron Hicks only made that decision murkier.

However, on Monday, Angels general manager Perry Minasian ended that discussion, too, making it clear that Trout is the Angels' starting center fielder.

Over Trout's 13-year career, he has spent the majority of his time in center field, playing in 1,320 games in the position.

For reference, Trout has appeared in 124 games in left field, 76 games at designated hitter and 17 games in right field.

However, center field is where Trout has made a home in the Majors, and center field was the position that Trout won the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year award back in 2012.

To this day, Trout is among the best outfielders in the league when healthy. And for now, the Angels have no plans to move the 32-year-old from that position.

That doesn't mean we'll never see him at a different position next season, though.
