MiLB announces expanded 150-game schedule for Triple-A

There may be serious concerns about the status of the 2022 Major League Baseball season, but the minor leagues made a big announcement on Thursday.

The Triple-A season had been 144 games long, but according to a press release, the decision is designed to “help Triple-A baseball better align with the Major League season” by delaying “the end date of the Minor League campaign to Sept. 28.”

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the MiLB season hasn't started on time since 2019. That year, the regular-season slate concluded on Sept. 2.

The 2021 Triple-A campaign went into the first week of October due to the start of the season being delayed a month over COVID-19 concerns. While there have been rumblings about the MLB season being delayed, it is currently scheduled to run from March 31 to Oct. 3.
