There are three Milwaukee Brewers players taking part into the 2025 MLB All-Star Game festivities. Current ace Freddy Peralta is present after being named to his second career All-Star team, but is not available to pitch because he recently appeared for Milwaukee on Sunday.
When Peralta informed Major League Baseball that he was not available to appear in the All-Star Game, Brewers closer Trevor Megill was named to the roster as his replacement.
Later, Jacob Misiorowski was named to the NL All-Star roster as a replacement for Chicago Cubs pitcher Matthew Boyd despite the fact that he has made just five starts in his young Major League career.
Despite not being named to the NL All-Star team initially, there is little question that Megill deserves to be there. And he used the honor of representing the Brewers at the All-Star Game to pay tribute to one of baseball’s most legendary figures, Bob Uecker.
As everyone is well aware, the man known as Mr. Baseball passed away after a battle with cancer this past winter. Uecker, a Milwaukee native, was the voice of the Brewers for over five decades and is still missed by many.
Which is why Megill added this touch to the suit he wore for the All-Star Game:

Of course, players and teams from around the Majors have been paying homage to Uecker all season long, with many teams holding moments of silence in his memory before games the Brewers play.
This touch by Megill is another fitting tribute to a man who deserves all the good things that have been said about him.
For his part, Megill is 2-2 with a 2.41 ERA and 21 saves this season.
