Milwaukee Brewers’ No. 1 Prospect Cracks Top 3 in ESPN’s Latest National Rankings
Milwaukee Brewers News: ESPN's Wild Trade Offer to Get Ronald Acuna Jr. Includes Future No. 1 Prospect 3 Milwaukee Brewers shortstop prospect Jesus Made prepares to hit during spring training workouts Monday, February 17, 2025, at American Family Fields of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona.

In his first season of minor-league baseball in the Milwaukee Brewers ‘ system, 18-year-old Jesus Made is already climbing the ladder. Since his promotion earlier this month, Made has now played 11 games with the High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Suffice to say he is tearing it up. That boost to his overall resume has him No. 3, up two spots from last time, in Kiley McDaniel’s latest batch of league-wide prospect rankings for ESPN.

Milwaukee Brewers’ top prospect is only rising in national stock

Thus far as a Timber Rattler, Made is hitting .386/.460/.636. With seven extra basehits in 50 plate appearances, he has displayed a level of power he did not down at Single-A Carolina earlier this year. The thump is there, but this is the first time it’s coming through in the Brewers’ farm system. In the 2024 Dominican Summer League, Made had previously shown his power-hitting capabilities, though right now they are manifesting in doubles and triples more than longballs.

Observes McDaniel, “…his flatter swing plane is keeping his homer totals down at the moment.” Increasing his launch angle, even a little, could cause more balls off his bat to leave the yard.

Of course, it’s not just the power potential. It’s Made’s blend of pop, pure hitting ability, speed, and defensive tools – Made has a cannon of an arm at shortstop – that make the Dominican Republic native such a tantalizing prospect, the top name in Milwaukee’s cache of minor-league talent.

Which is, by the way, extremely deep: the Brewers have five other entries in McDaniel’s top 100: Luis Pena (28), Logan Henderson (62), Cooper Pratt (75), Luke Adams (90), and Jeferson Quero (94).

Having made the High-A leap alongside Pena (No. 2 among Brewers prospects), Made has gotten priority at shortstop although both have experience there, and looks like a future fixture at the position.

Still several years away from his debut, he faces no relevant road block right now in Milwaukee. After letting Willy Adames walk in free agency – a savvy decision, by the looks of his mediocre 2025 numbers – the team has penciled in Joey Ortiz at short. While Ortiz has held it down, the future, even for next season, seems quite fluid.

Whenever he is ready, Made should have his spot reserved on the major-league roster provided he keeps impressing in the minors like the nation’s No. 3-ranked prospect.
