MLB Draft Recap: Nine LSU Tigers Selected
Dylan Widger-Imagn

The LSU Tigers are coming off a historic year which saw them win their eighth National Championship in program history. As a result, they had a large sum of players drafted this past weekend.

Here's every Tiger who heard their name called in the 2025 MLB Draft:

Kade Anderson - Seattle Mariners, 3rd overall

Chase Shores - Los Angeles Angels, 47th overall

Anthony Eyanson - Boston Red Sox, 87th overall

Ethan Frey - Houston Astros, 95th overall

Daniel Dickinson - Milwaukee Brewers, 185th overall

Jared Jones - Pittsburgh Pirates, 263rd overall

Jacob Mayers - Boston Red Sox, 268th overall

Kade Woods - Atlanta Braves, 307th overall

Conner Ware - New York Mets, 463rd overall

Kade Anderson was a candidate to go first overall to the Washington Nationals, but after firing their general manager a week before the draft, they decided to go with the cheaper high school option and select Eli Willits. The Angels had the best player in the draft fall right into their laps at No. 2 overall, and instead of drafting him, they also went with the cheaper option, selecting UC Santa Barbra pitcher Tyler Bremner. Finally, at No. 3, the Seattle Mariners made the sensible option and selected Anderson, getting the best pitcher in the entire draft at No. 3 overall.

The Angels redeemed themselves when they selected Chase Shores 47th overall. The former LSU starter was moved to the bullpen midway through the season, and really excelled in that role. He can pump triple digits and has a nasty breaking ball, which made him a hot commodity among MLB teams.

Anthony Eyanson went a bit later than I expected, but the righty lands with the Red Sox in the third round of the draft. Eyanson doesn't have the velocity that Shores has, but his dominance throughout the season and in the College World Series showed why he can be a major leaguer.

Ethan Frey, Daniel Dickinson and Jared Jones were the first three position players taken off the board for LSU. I was excited to see Frey go in the top-100, because he's worked so hard over the last few seasons and came alive in a massive way late in the year. Dickinson and Jones went later than I thought they would, but both landed in decent spots.

It was an exciting month for these LSU draftees. They won the national championship not too long ago and will now head to the big leagues.

Jay Johnson continues to show why he's one of the best coaches in the country at developing talent.
