The New York Yankees did not finish the 2025 season as they had hoped, but several individual performances stood out, including that of Jazz Chisholm Jr. In his third season with the Yankees, Chisholm was a cornerstone of the team’s offense, providing speed, power, and defensive versatility.
Following his midseason trade from the Miami Marlins in 2024, Chisholm built on his debut campaign in New York with another strong year. He appeared in 130 games, slashing .242/.332/.481 with 31 home runs, 80 RBI and 31 stolen bases, becoming just the third player in Yankees history to post a 30-30 season.
Chisholm dealt with injuries in 2025, including a May oblique strain, yet still achieved career highs in home runs and stolen bases while anchoring the second base position. Despite the Yankees’ Division Series loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, his individual contributions remained a highlight for the team.
As Chisholm prepares for his third season with the Yankees, MLB announced Monday that he finished sixth in fan voting for the league’s top 10 second basemen. The top five were Arizona Diamondbacks ’ Ketel Marte, Chicago Cubs ’ Nico Hoerner, Milwaukee Brewers ’ Brice Turang, Houston Astros’ Jose Altuve and Blue Jays’ Ernie Clement.

The news comes amid reports that Chisholm, a two-time All-Star, continues to attract trade interest around the league. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, several teams have made inquiries:
“The Yankees have listened on Jazz Chisholm Jr.,” Passan wrote in December, although New York has shown no intention of moving him.
Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman described Chisholm as “part of the solution,” citing his athleticism, defense, power and speed as key components of the team’s core (via MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch).
Chisholm is under a one‑year, $10.2 million contract for 2026, the final season before he becomes eligible for free agency if not extended.
