MLB Makes Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Announcement on Thursday

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has had a very impressive career in Major League Baseball so far. In seven years, Guerrero has hit .288 with an OPS of .861, 183 home runs and 591 RBIs. He has made five All-Star Games, won two Silver Slugger Awards and one Gold Glove in his career.

The 26-year-old is coming off a fantastic season in 2025. In 156 games in the regular season, he batted .292 with an .848 OPS, 23 long balls and 84 RBIs. Despite making the All-Star team, his best performances of the year came in the postseason.

Guerrero helped the Blue Jays reach the World Series for the first time since 1993.

Guerrero played 18 games for Toronto in the playoffs, as he hit .397 with an unbelievable 1.289 OPS, eight homers and 15 runs driven in. This included winning the ALCS MVP after leading the Blue Jays to a victory over the Seattle Mariners.

The star first baseman will be entering the first season of a whopping 14-year, $500 million extension in 2026. On Thursday, before the season begins, MLB announced that Guerrero had been named to MLB Network’s top 100 list. He came in at No. 10, marking his highest ranking of this honor since 2022. This is also three spots better than his ranking last season.

Guerrero was the fourth Blue Jays player to be named on the list by MLB Network, along with starting pitcher Dylan Cease (No. 100), catcher Alejandro Kirk (No. 74) and right fielder George Springer (No. 47).

These four players, along with the rest of the Blue Jays, will begin their 2026 season with their spring training opener on Feb. 21 against the Philadelphia Phillies.
