MLB, MLBPA extend Trevor Bauer's administrative leave

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer's administrative leave has been extended.

The 31-year-old was originally placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball on July 2, 2021, shortly after allegations of sexual assault against Bauer came to light. The pitcher faces allegations of physically and sexually assaulting a San Diego woman on multiple occasions.

In August of last year, the Washington Post uncovered court records that showed a second woman previously alleged that Bauer physically abused her and made a death threat directed at her. In a statement, the former NL Cy Young award winner denied the allegations and said the "false claims" were made by a woman seeking to extort him for "millions of dollars."

In early February, the L.A. County district attorney's office decided that Bauer wouldn't be facing criminal charges stemming from the allegations.
