MLB Rumors: Spencer Strider’s Injury Paves The Way For Free Agent Pitcher

The Atlanta Braves suffered a huge blow after Spencer Strider was placed on the injured list. Strider had an oblique strain, and his absence has put the Atlanta Braves in a tough spot. The clubhouse has a huge role to fill, but they might just have the perfect MLB candidate on their list.

The MLB free agency was pretty harsh for several players, as there are still free agents. Despite demand for pitchers, 10 free agents remain available. Many have even forgotten their names. Players like Marcus Stroman and Patrick Corbin are probably done. Among those names are Lucas Giolito

It came as a surprise to many that Giolito has not been picked up by any MLB team. The former Red Sox star has promise and the ability to shine. He’s a veteran pitcher, but not many teams have shown a keen interest.

Spencer Strider’s Injury Could Help The Braves Sign MLB Free Agent Lucas Giolito

The Braves have room for pitchers. They are falling short with Strider gone. With a return timeline unclear at the moment, there’s nothing wrong with the Braves pursuing Giolito. Many analysts, including Robert Murray from Fansided sees the Braves as a perfect fit for the free agent.

Lucas Giolito is waiting for an opportunity to come his way. It could take time, but it’s not impossible. The Atlanta Braves are not the only team linked to the pitcher. The San Diego Padres were also rumored to sign the pitcher during this MLB offseason.

Lucas Giolito posted a 3.41 ERA with the Boston Red Sox last year. He’s not been too great, but his veteran presence will help teams, especially the Atlanta Braves, since they need a pitcher right now.
