New York Mets First Baseman Pete Alonso swung his way into the record books this afternoon on the road against the Colorado Rockies. A two-run home run in the top of the 4th inning tied him with franchise legend David Wright for the second-most home runs in team history(242). Next up on the all-time list is Darryl Strawberry with 252 round trippers.
It has been a strong regular season for the star first baseman. He is leading the league in RBI, fifth in Slugging Percentage, and fifth in OPS. When will Alonso set the franchise record in home runs?

Alonso has been one of the best power hitters in the game since debuting with the New York Mets in 2019. He took the league by storm that season. He was named the Rookie of the Year and set a rookie record with 53 dingers. He is also a four-time MLB All-Star. The first baseman is well on his way to another all-star nod later this summer.
Alonso needs 11 more home runs to break the franchise record. At his current pace, he should break the record sometime in late July/ early August. He is one of the best players in team history. He made another piece of history on Sunday.
