New York Mets Starting Pitcher David Peterson had the best outing of his career last night at home against the Washington Nationals. He struck out 6 for the first shutout of his career. He limited the Nationals to six hits as New York prevailed 5-0. It has been a solid regular season for the veteran lefty. He is 5-2 with a 2.49 ERA. That ERA is the 14th-best in the league. Will Peterson be able to follow up his career day with another solid start?

Peterson has spent all six seasons of his career with the New York Mets. He has been a solid pitcher throughout his tenure, but has come into his own over the last two seasons. The lefty had a strong regular season in 2024. He was also a crucial part of New York’s surprising trip to the NLCS. He had a 2.92 ERA with a win and a save during New York’s postseason run.
Peterson’s next scheduled start is on June 17 on the road against the Atlanta Braves. He will look to build upon the best start of his career. New York’s pitching staff has been the best in the league in 2025. His performance has been a big reason for that.
