There are always fireworks when the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox play. That has been especially true in 2025. These ballclubs made history when they faced off earlier this month in The Bronx. The first three games of the season series each featured 15+ runs scored. The only divisional matchup in league history with a longer streak to begin the season was the Atlanta Braves-Colorado Rockies in 1993. That season series began with four games of 15+ runs scored. Will the Yankees-Red Sox series continue making history?

It has been a tale of two seasons for these bitter rivals. New York is leading the AL East at 42-25. The Red Sox are in fourth place at 34-36. The Yankees have been paced by a tremendous offense. They are second in the league in batting average, leading the league in home runs, and third in runs scored. Right Fielder Aaron Judge is putting together another season for the ages. He is either first or second in batting average, home runs, RBI, OBP, Slugging Percentage, OPS, and WAR.
Even though it has been a disappointing season for the Boston Red Sox, it is not because of their offense. The unit is seventh in batting average, seventh in home runs, and fifth in runs scored. Designated Hitter Rafael Devers has gotten off to another strong start at the plate. He is 16th in home runs, third in RBI, and 12th in OPS.
New York visits Boston for a three-game series beginning tonight. New York will send Ryan Yarbrough to the mound. He will be opposed by Garett Crochet. These starting pitchers will look to hold up their end of the bargain this evening to ensure 15+ runs are not scored again.
