New York Yankees Starting Pitcher Max Fried continued his stellar 2025 campaign Saturday night on the road against the Colorado Rockies. He surrendered 1 earned run over 7.1 innings of work while punching out 7. The lefty has been great this season. He is tied for the league lead in wins, first in ERA, and seventh in WHIP.

Fried’s first 11 starts with the Yankees have him in rarefied air. His 1.29 ERA is the lowest with New York over a player’s first 11 starts since ERA became official. It is also the fourth-lowest ERA in a pitcher’s first 11 starts with a team over the last 30 seasons. Fried also joined Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez as the only two MLB pitchers to have 7+ wins, no losses, and an ERA under 1.50 entering Memorial Day. Will Fried continue pitching at an elite level?

Max Fried Career Summary

He signed an eight-year $218 million contract with the New York Yankees in December 2024. Before coming to New York, he had spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Atlanta Braves. He won three gold Gloves with Atlanta, was named to two All-Star teams, and helped the Braves win the 2021 World Series. He has a career record of 79-36 with a 2.96 ERA.

Final Thoughts

A strong start for Fried has him with the second-best American League Cy Young odds. Only reigning Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal has better odds. New York’s ace will have his next scheduled start be a marquee matchup on May 30 on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has extensive experience facing the Dodgers during his tenure with the Braves. Fried will seek to continue having the best season of his career.
