Orioles Announce Massive Gunnar Henderson Injury Update
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Orioles will be back on the field on Friday to take on the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The Orioles' goal will be to bounce back after losing each of their last two games against the Boston Red Sox.

Overall, the 2025 season has been a bit underwhelming for the Orioles thus far. At the time of this writing, the Orioles are at the bottom of the AL East standings with a 3-4 record. Therefore, they are certainly looking to get things back on track immediately.

Thankfully for the Orioles, they are getting a massive boost in their lineup at the perfect time. The club announced on Friday afternoon that star infielder Gunnar Henderson has been activated from the 10-day injured list. In addition, they shared that he will be the club's leadoff hitter against the Royals on Friday.

Henderson, 23, missed the first week of the Orioles campaign due to an intercostal strain that he suffered during Spring Training in February. Now, the Montgomery, Alabama native is ready to return for the Orioles, which is undoubtedly massive news for them.

Henderson is coming off an incredible 2024 season where he set new career highs with 31 doubles, 37 home runs, 92 RBIs, and a .281 batting average. With these excellent numbers at the plate, he rightfully made his first All-Star Game. With all of this, the Orioles are getting a serious boost with his return to the lineup.

It will now be interesting to see how the Orioles perform with Henderson back from here. In 343 career MLB games over three seasons, the 2022 AL Rookie of the Year has 69 home runs, 192 RBIs, and a .268 batting average.
