For the third time in less than a month, the Baltimore Orioles have designated reliever Albert Suárez for assignment.
The move comes after Sunday's doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers , as Baltimore needed to get its roster back down to 26 players following the temporary expansion for the twin bill. Left-handed reliever Grant Wolfram, who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list yesterday after dealing with a lower back strain, will remain on the roster.
Wolfram has not pitched since May 6. He owns a 4.85 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 16 appearances this season.

Although the transaction has become a familiar occurrence for Suárez, the veteran right-hander has provided stability for an unstable Baltimore pitching staff. Across seven appearances this season, Suárez has posted a 1-0 record with a 2.75 ERA. However, command issues have been a theme, as he has issued nine walks compared to just 10 strikeouts.
Since returning to the league following a six-year absence, Suárez owns a 3.49 ERA across 44 appearances (25 starts) over three seasons with the Orioles.
While Wolfram's return is positive, Baltimore's bullpen continues to battle injuries. Closer Ryan Helsley has not pitched since April 28 due to right elbow inflammation. Relievers Yaramil Hiraldo and Colin Selby are both on the 60-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. Meanwhile, Félix Bautista remains sidelined after undergoing surgery last August to repair a torn rotator cuff and torn labrum.
Pitching health was a season-long issue for Baltimore in 2025. The Orioles used 36 pitchers during the season, contributing to constant roster turnover and the fifth-worst team ERA in baseball at 4.60.
The trend has continued in 2026.
Through 53 games, Baltimore has already used 25 pitchers and currently owns the third-worst team ERA in MLB at 4.85. This disappointing performance on the mound has been a major factor in the Orioles' 23-30 start to the season.
Baltimore continues their homestand Monday against the American League-leading Tampa Bay Rays at 1:35 ET.
