Orioles Predicted to Trade Outfielder After Ryan Mountcastle News

It's no secret that the Baltimore Orioles have been off their game this year, with a last-place start leading to the dismissal of manager Brandon Hyde.

Few things have gone right for the 2023 AL East champs, with star catcher Adley Rutschman hitting .203, which ranks last among qualified hitters.

The Orioles' 5.38 ERA as a pitching staff is third worst in the league, shortly behind the historically-bad Colorado Rockies' 5.61.

One of the bright spots has been outfielder Cedric Mullins, who had a strong April but weak stats in May. Mullins was placed on the 10-day IL on Friday, and a prediction surfaced about the long-time Oriole.

Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller listed Mullins as one of the nine players likely to be on the move, along with Sandy Alcantara, Luis Robert Jr, and Mullins' teammate Ryan O'Hearn, among others.

The Orioles finished 54-108 in 2018 and seemingly tanked, with the hope that an influx of young talent would get them back to their winning ways.

That seemed to arrive in 2022 and 2023, with the arrival of Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson, Grayson Rodriguez, Colton Cowser, Jordan Westburg and Jackson Holliday generating plenty optimism about the Orioles as a dynasty.

Things haven't changed all that much, though injuries to Rodriguez, Cowser, Westburg and new acquisition Tyler O'Neill among others have left the O's depleted.

First baseman Ryan Mountcastle was placed on the IL Saturday along with Mullins.

As the Orioles' injured list continues to grow, so will the calls for a near-complete sell for Mike Elias' team in a year that feels somewhat of a throwaway two months deep. Mullins, who will be a free agent after this season, seems likely to be dealt.
