The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Colorado Rockies 2-0 on the road earlier today to win their seventh consecutive game. Philadelphia swept their three-game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates before heading on the road to take all four games against the hapless Colorado Rockies. They have outscored the opposition 41-18 over the winning streak. Will the Philadelphia Phillies be able to keep up their high level of play?

Philadelphia’s winning streak has propelled them into first place in the National League East at 32-18. Their offense has been strong this season. They are third in batting average, 13th in home runs, and sixth in runs scored. Kyle Schwarber has been one of the standout players on Philadelphia’s offense. He is tied for the league lead in home runs and is ninth in RBI.
The team’s pitching staff has been mediocre. They are 12th in ERA, 13th in WHIP, and 16th in opposing batting average. Starting Pitchers Jesus Luzardo and Zack Wheeler have been great this season though. Luzardo is seventh in the league in ERA while Wheeler is third in strikeouts and fourth in WHIP.
Philadelphia will gun for their eighth consecutive win tomorrow evening when they begin a three-game set on the road against the Athletics. If the Philadelphia Phillies can continue playing this well, the sky is the limit for the ballclub.
