Phillies Acquire Brooks Raley In Trade With Mets

President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski has awoken for the Philadelphia Phillies on the 2026 Trade Deadline Day.

Immediately after acquiring Second Baseman Luis Arraez from the San Francisco Giants to sure up their lineup, they attacked another place of issue in their bullpen.

Coming over to South Philadelphia from the rival New York Mets is left-handed reliever Brooks Raley. 

Raley has been lights out for the Mets this season, posting a 1.96 ERA with 40 strikeouts and a 1.09 WHIP in 41 1/3 innings.

The Phillies desperately needed a solid lefty in their bullpen after the struggles from José Alvarado and Kyle Backhus throughout the season.

The 38-year-old will likely slot in as the team’s set-up man for closer Jhoan Duran.

In exchange, the Phillies sent back right-handed pitcher Luke Gabrysh and outfielder John Spikerman.

With the two trades so far by Dombrowski, the Phillies have drastically fixed two problem areas, with only the 5th starter issue remaining. 

Raley will likely be activated by the team tomorrow, where he will certainly become a big part of this Philadelphia bullpen into October.
