The Philadelphia Phillies are set to face off against the Los Angeles Dodgers for Game 2 of the NLDS on Monday after losing the series opener on Saturday.
The team’s most formidable hitter in the 2025 regular season, Kyle Schwarber, will look to bounce back after going 0 for 4 with three strikeouts in Game 1. The 32-year-old left-handed slugger is set to hit unrestricted free agency at the end of the season, and he responded with the best offensive season of his 11-year career at the plate.
Schwarber posted a .240 batting average, .365 on-base percentage and .928 OPS, appearing in all 162 games, which was especially valuable for a Phillies lineup that dealt with injuries all year. He also led the National League in home runs with 56 and all of MLB in RBIs with 132.
As the Phillies prepare to take on Los Angeles on Monday, the team took to social media to share that Schwarber’s historic regular season has been recognized by MLB, along with his teammate Trea Turner.
The Phillies announced on X, “Kyle and Trea are finalists for the 2025 Hank Aaron Award, awarded annually to the best overall offensive performer in each league. Voting closes Oct. 12!” The post also featured a link to vote for the Phillies stars.

The Hank Aaron Award is given annually to the top offensive player in each league. It was introduced in 1999 to honor Aaron’s legendary career and celebrates hitters who excel in power, consistency and run production. Winners are chosen through a mix of fan votes and input from Hall of Fame players, spotlighting standout performances across the regular season. Schwarber’s consistently dominant regular season certainly stands out. If he takes home the award, it would be the first of his career.
Schwarber’s current focus will remain on leading Philadelphia to the NLCS, although his trophy case is beginning to fill with his accolades. Schwarber earned his third All-Star selection of his career this year and already owns a Silver Slugger and World Series championship as well. He will look to leave behind his Game 1 performance on Monday to avoid being pushed to the brink of elimination heading to Los Angeles.
