Phillies dugout has hilarious reaction to rat sighting

The Chicago Cubs improved their MLB-best streak of wins with a 7-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, their seventh straight win. The result also means that the Phillies have now lost seven straight games , with Shota Imanaga delivering seven innings for one run and just three hits.

Regardless, during the game, a rat scurried on field before rushing towards the Phillies dugout, per a post on X by Talkin’ Baseball. It led to some hilarious reactions from the crowd and multiple players, with a couple jumping away as the rat came close. It eventually made its way under an advertisement hoarding, never to be seen again.

As far as the game was concerned, Chicago took control in the fifth innings when Jesus Luzardo exited after 4 2/3 innings (one run allowed, five hits, four walks). Reliever Orion Kerkering issued a bases-loaded walk to Moises Ballesteros, opening the scoring at 1-0.

Michael Busch delivered a two-run single with the bases loaded to make it 3-1, while Nico Hoerner added a solo home run in the seventh. Shortly after, Seiya Suzuki hit his first home run of the season, a 441-foot shot, which extended the lead to 6-1. Philadelphia’s offense struggled to get going.

Kyle Schwarber tied the game briefly in the sixth with his eighth home run of the season, a 386-foot drive, and Bryce Harper added a two-run homer in the eighth to cut the deficit to three. However, the Phillies managed just three hits through the first seven innings.

After Luzardo’s departure, Philadelphia relievers allowed six runs across the final innings, including a costly wild pitch by Jose Alvarado that accounted for Chicago’s seventh run. In contrast, Caleb Thielbar recorded the final two outs for his second save.

The Phillies’ late push was sparked by Adolis García’s single, an error by Scott Kingery, and an RBI sacrifice fly from Alec Bohm.
