This is not good news for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Catcher J.T. Realmuto exited Philadelphia's 9-1 loss on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers after taking a 97 mph fastball off his left wrist on a hit by pitch via Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

It's been a brutal series behind the plate for Realmuto, who also took a foul ball off the mask last night and was hit by Ohtani's backswing. pic.twitter.com/TLRgFEhMwR
The hit by pitch of Realmuto occurred in the top of the third inning and he exited in the bottom of the fourth. The Phillies would later announce that Realmuto has a wrist contusion and will undergo further evaluation.

It appears that the Phillies have initially dodged a disaster with their starting catcher, however, they're not out of the woods yet.
The Phillies will be holding their breath that it's nothing more than a contusion and not something more serious.
Realmuto has gotten banged up behind the plate in this series with the Dodgers as well. He took a foul ball off his catcher's mask last night and was hit by Shohei Ohtani's back swing on a separate occasion. But the latest hit by pitch from Yamamoto was too much to remain in the game.
Realmuto, 35, is having another rough offensive season so far in 2026. In 39 games, he's slashing .220/.296/.299 with a .595 OPS, two home runs and nine RBI.
Despite his offensive numbers declining not just this year but in recent seasons, Realmuto is still quite important defensively for the Phillies with the way he calls a game, manages a pitching staff and frames strikes.
The Phillies need Realmuto behind the plate at catcher and they will hope that he isn't forced to miss time with the wrist issue.
Philadelphia holds a record of 30-29 and are in third place in the National League East division. They're currently 9.5 games back of the first place Atlanta Braves.
However, they're 21-10 since firing manager Rob Thomson and having baseball legend Don Mattingly take over as the skipper. The Phillies are only 1.5 games back of the final Wild Card spot in the NL.
