The Philadelphia Phillies head up to Toronto for a series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Before the series starts, the Phillies are making adjustments to the starting rotation amid major personal news for Zack Wheeler.

In a post on TikTok from Dominique Wheeler, the Wheelers were shown to be in the hospital awaiting the birth of their third child together. The Phillies' ace will not pitch for the Phillies in their upcoming series against the Blue Jays as he waits for the birth of his third child.

Matt Gelb of The Athletic reported on Twitter/X that the Phillies are adjusting their rotation this week in Toronto. Gelb said, "They're skipping Zack Wheeler for now because his wife is due any day."

Instead, the Phillies will trot out a starting rotation of Christipher Sanchez, Mick Abel, and Jesus Luzardo against the Blue Jays. Sanchez will go first on Tuesday, Abel on Wednesday, and Luzardo on Thursday.

The Blue Jays avoid facing Wheeler, and will instead face Luzardo, who was originally not scheduled to start until the Pittsburgh Pirates series on June 6th.

Both Wheeler and Luzardo are coming off their worst outings of the year. Wheeler went 5.1 innings against the Atlanta Braves, allowing 6 earned runs on the way to his second straight loss against the Braves.

Luzardo on the other hand, is coming off the worst outing of his career. He went just 3.1 innings, and allowed 12 earned runs. His ERA before the game was at 2.15, but afterwards, it ballooned up to 3.58.

While the Blue Jays series was originally going to be Wheelers chance to rebound, it now is Luzardos chance to do so. But Luzardo isn't the only pitcher affected.

Sanchez moves up a day, meaning he'll pitch on less rest, and faces Bowden Francis. Meanwhile Abel starts against Jose Berrios, and no longer starts the day-game on Thursday.

The shuffling of the pitching rotation comes after the Wheeler family is expecting their third child. He'll take time off for the birth of their third child, and will miss his originally scheduled start against the Blue Jays.
