Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jesus Luzardo did what one does after a disastrous performance: he completely changed his look.
Luzardo debuted a set of cornrows on Tuesday, three days after giving up 12 runs in 3.1 innings to the Milwaukee Brewers. When asked about the change, the pitcher did not do anything to hide his reasoning.
“This is what happens when you give up 12 runs,” Luzardo said.

Luzardo had been outstanding heading into Saturday’s start, but the outing was so disastrous that it basically wrecked his season stats. His ERA jumped from 2.15 to 3.58 from just the one outing.
This is not all that weird, as Luzardo is hardly the first athlete to change things up in the wake of a poor performance. If anything, he could have done something much more dramatic, like this division rival did last year.
Luzardo’s next scheduled start is Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays. If he does not turn things around during that outing, he may have to resort to more drastic measures.
