The Los Angeles Angels are set to begin a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night. The Angels are set to get reinforcements during the series. LA acquired Grayson Rodriguez during the offseason in a trade, and he will make his debut with the ball club on Sunday, the Angels announced. Rodriguez missed the first portion of the season due to an injury. Additionally, catcher Logan O’Hoppe was reinstated from the injured list.

Rodriguez, 26, last appeared in an MLB game in 2024. He displayed signs of potential during the ’24 season with the Baltimore Orioles, as he pitched to a 3.86 ERA across 20 outings on the mound.

The Halos made the trade this past offseason, sending Taylor Ward to Baltimore in return.

O’Hoppe is also 26 years old. The catcher features a fairly high ceiling He appeared in 26 games in 2026 before suffering an injury, hitting .205/.323/.256.

O’Hoppe has hit at least 19 home runs in each of the past two years. His offensive potential makes him an especially intriguing catcher.

The Angels and Dodgers have once again had different seasons to say the least. The Halos are currently 16-28 and in last place in the American League West standings. Meanwhile, the Dodgers lead the National League West with a 26-18 record.

Nevertheless, the Angels do have home field advantage for the series. They could pull off an upset, especially with Grayson Rodriguez and Logan O’Hoppe set to return from their injuries.

First pitch for the first game of the series on Friday night is scheduled for 9:38 PM EST in Anaheim.
