Although we are a month away from the start of the season, it is never too late to think about the trade deadline and moves that could be made.
Like any other team, the Braves are no different. With their squad structured to make a deep run at the NL East division, Atlanta could see many ways they can bolster their group come late July.
And after losing Max Fried and Charlie Morton to free agency, their rotation took a hit but is still deemed to be very strong across the board.
According to Bleacher Report, they are predicting a possible trade between the Braves and San Diego is plausible for starting pitcher Dylan Cease.
"Pairing the mustachioed Cease with the mustachioed Spencer Strider, even if it's just for a few months, might be the motivation necessary to bring the two wheelers-and-dealers together for a slight blockbuster," said Kerry Miller in a recent Bleacher Report article.
The Padres traded for Cease at the trade deadline, signing Nick Pivetta in the offseason, which put some question marks around Dylan Cease as a tradable asset.
This already puts forward a gateway in which the Padres are willing to trade Cease as his name swirled amongst a couple of teams before spring training.
Although this is all speculation and a very far away prediction/rumour for the 2025 trade deadline. It is never too early to think about the possibilities of what the Braves can do this season.
Now there is no infinite inclination that a trade like this can happen, but it is possible. It also depends on how both of the teams' seasons progress. If San Diego is in position to shed some money and gain valuable assets, they might oblige. If Atlanta finds themselves in the middle of a narrow division race between the Mets and Philadelphia, then that might make them suitable partners.
Let's not forget, however, the Braves will be battling against many other teams if this trade becomes available. The Mets come to mind with their starting rotation injuries so far in spring training. Plus their inquiries for an ace at the top of the rotation.
As far as we know, these are few and far between rumors and speculation about what can happen in the 2025 season. Although one can't help but imagine a staff that includes Spencer Strider, Dylan Cease, Reynaldo Lopez and Spencer Schwellenbach. Which can put their rotation among one of the best in baseball.
