The Texas Rangers (75–70) have been one of the league’s biggest surprises in September. Winners of seven of their last ten games, they’ve pulled within 1.5 games of an AL wild card spot and just 3.5 games back of the AL West division lead entering Tuesday.

This recent hot stretch has come despite not having the team’s best offensive player, Corey Seager, who’s been sidelined since August 27 after undergoing surgery for appendicitis.

Health has always been the biggest concern for the 31-year-old shortstop, as he’s missed time throughout his entire four-year tenure with Texas.

However, when Seager is on the field, he’s one of baseball's most feared hitters—and in 2025 that continued, as he posted a .271 batting average, .373 on-base percentage, .860 OPS, 21 home runs and 50 RBIs over 102 appearances.

Corey Seager Injury Update

Heading into the second matchup of a three-game set against the MLB’s best team by record, the Milwaukee Brewers, manager Bruce Bochy provided the latest update on Seager.

Bochy revealed that Seager has one more hurdle—reclaiming his range of motion and rotation in his rehab process—before he can ramp up and begin baseball activities.

"Corey Seager is waiting on his range of motion and rotation in his recovery process per Bruce Bochy. Once that’s back, then he can start ramping up the rehab process," wrote Abby Jones of DLLS Sports.

With time winding down, the Rangers will likely have to keep finding success without Seager if they want to make the postseason. However, if he continues to progress, he may provide Texas with a huge boost just as a postseason berth comes into view.

Over his career, Seager has proven his ability to elevate when the lights are brightest, collecting two World Series MVPs (2020 and 2023). If he can return for a playoff series, the Rangers could be poised to chase a second World Series title in three seasons.
