Rangers’ Jacob deGrom gets crucial injury update

With the Texas Rangers looking to make noise in the AL West with 37 games left ahead of Tuesday’s start to the series against the Washington Nationals, the team will need as much of their top players as possible. As Rangers pitcher Jacob deGrom experienced an injury scare last Thursday in his start against the Los Angeles Angels, fans have been waiting for any update, with a crucial one revealed on Tuesday.

According to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, deGrom would conduct a bullpen session on Tuesday as he’s been dealing with triceps fatigue on his right side. While he won’t start in Wednesday’s outing against the Angels, there is a chance he could make the Thursday contest.

“Jacob deGrom threw a bullpen session today, per Skip Schumaker. He won’t start tomorrow, but could potentially start on Thursday against the Nationals,” Landry wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Despite not making the start for Wednesday, Kane McCutchen reported that the veteran pitcher was throwing ahead of Tuesday’s game, as it was even “from a pretty good distance.”

“Jacob deGrom is out throwing at Globe Life Field right now. Looks to be from a pretty good distance as well,” McCutchen wrote on X. “deGrom left his last start against the Angels after just two innings on August 13 after experiencing right triceps fatigue.”

It appears that the 38-year-old’s injury isn’t too serious, as Texas is sure to want him back for the last stretch of the season; so far, deGrom has recorded a 3.95 ERA with 147 strikeouts and an 8-8 record in 23 starts. I

It remains to be seen if he starts Thursday’s game as the Rangers are currently 61-64, two games back of the top spot in the AL West, ahead of the series opener against the Nationals.
