It’s September, and that means playoffs across Minor League Baseball. The A-ball circuits will get things going this week, while Double-A and Triple-A have some games to go before the postseason. And, a big name is headed to Double-A. Here’s a look at what went down in Week 24 of 2025.
This past week was a big one for Travis Bazzana, the first pick in last year’s MLB Draft.
Bazzana hit .391 with four home runs and eight RBI, with that home run total tying four others, including International League newcomer Kemp Alderman, for most homers in the circuit during the past week.
That big week nearly doubled Bazzana’s home run total this season, as it pushed him to nine overall.
In total, Bazzana owned a .916 OPS in Triple-A as of the 8th, thanks in large part to the aforementioned power surge and the fact he’s walked more (26) than struck out (25) across 23 games with Columbus.
Now that all the High-A and Low-A affiliates have finished their regular seasons, here’s a look at the playoff matchups for this coming week:
Florida State League
California League
Carolina League
South Atlantic League
Midwest League
Northwest League
Last week saw the promotions of Marlins pitching prospect Thomas White and Red Sox infielder Franklin Arias, along with others. However, that wasn’t it as far as moves were concerned.
The Brewers moved Jesús Made to Double-A Biloxi on September 8, the second promotion he received this season. Made was promoted to High-A Wisconsin in August.
Aside from giving Made more work for 2025 — Wisconsin’s season is over — the promotion also rewards the 18-year-old for a strong month with the Timber Rattlers, in a league filled with players significantly older than him. Over the last five weeks, Made’s .915 OPS was tied with Nick Mitchell for fourth-most in the Midwest League.
Made hit .345/.415/.500 (.915 OPS) with two home runs and 11 extra-base hits across 27 games in High-A.
Another notable move was Jaxon Wiggins moving to Triple-A Iowa from Double-A Knoxville. Wiggins, a second-rounder by the Cubs back in 2023, struck out 52 over 42 frames with Knoxville.
Additionally, two first-round pitchers from 2025 made their pro debuts this past week.
Gage Wood, the Phillies’ first-rounder who shone for Arkansas this past season, struck out five over two innings for Clearwater (A) in his lone outing.
Liam Doyle, the Cardinals’ top pick, struck out three over 1.2 IP for Palm Beach (A).
