This past week was a busy one across Minor League Baseball. The High-A and Low-A affiliates were in the midst of the playoffs, the Double-A season ended, and a couple of Athletics prospects went off at the plate. Including, the prized prospect moved at the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline. Here’s a look at how Week 25 of the season went down in the Minors.
Best-of-three matchups took place in the A-ball levels last week, aside from the Northwest League.
Brooklyn (NYM) swept Greensboro (PIT) to get to the SAL finals, while Hub City (TEX), led by Dylan Dreiling and Malcolm Moore, beat a juggernaut Bowling Green (TB) squad to move on. The Cyclones won Game 1 to take a 1-0 series lead.
In the Midwest League, West Michigan (DET) swept Lake County (CLE), while Cedar Rapids (MIN) beat Beloit (MIA) in three to create an all-AL Central final. The Whitecaps won Game 1 on September 14.
Down in Low-A, there were five sweeps in the first round. Inland Empire (LAA) and San Jose (SF) moved on to the California League final. Lynchburg (CLE) beat Eli Willits and Fredericksburg (WSH) in two to square off with Columbia (KC). Willits went 1-7 with three strikeouts in two playoff games.
In the Florida State League, Lakeland hit Gage Wood and Clearwater (PHI) in Game 2 to sweep the Threshers. The Flying Tigers are in the midst of the FSL final with Daytona (CIN). The Tortugas defeated St. Lucie (NYM).
There was one crowned winner in the A-ball circuit: the Everett Aquasox. Everett (SEA) defeated Eugene (SF) in four games to take the Northwest League crown. Charlie Pagliarini hit two home runs for the Aquasox in the series, while former first-rounder Tai Peete went deep in the clincher.
The Double-A playoffs kick off this week. Here’s a look at the matchups, sorted by league:
Eastern League
Southern League
Texas League
The Tigers have the chance to send a third affiliate to a league final this week, as the Seawolves face Konnor Griffin and the Curve. Meanwhile, the Mets & Yankees will chop it up in the Double-A version of the Subway Series. Jonathan Santucci and Ben Hess will pitch in Game 1.
Gage Jump will take the ball in Game 1 for the Rockhounds against Ryan Waldschmidt and Amarillo. Jackson Ferris will take the ball for Tulsa in Game 1 against the Cardinals’ Double-A affiliate. Ferris, acquired nearly two years ago, finished third in the Texas League in strikeouts (135) this season.
The Drillers, by the way, received major reinforcements last week.
Aside from several notable prospect promotions to the Majors, big-name prospects were shuttled around as the A-ball season ended for many teams last week.
Zyhir Hope and Josue De Paula joined Tulsa (AA) last week. Hope finished the year with the fourth-most hits (116) in the Midwest League in 2025, along with 78 walks. De Paula, arguably the best prospect in the Dodgers’ system, posted a .827 OPS with 12 home runs and 32 stolen bases with Great Lakes (A+) across 98 games.
Springfield, the team that will play Tulsa in the first round, received Cardinals 2025 first-rounder Liam Doyle.
Dante Nori, who performed very well in an 11-game sample size with Jersey Shore (A+), saw his season extended by moving up to Reading (AA). Nori hit .190 in five games with Reading. He was joined by infielder Aroon Escobar.
As part of that shuffle, Aidan Miller, the Phillies’ first-rounder in 2023, was promoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Miller notched five hits and five walks with the Ironpigs in his first week.
Other notable promotions included hard-throwing reliever Dennis Colleran (Double-A, Royals), Aiden May (High-A, Marlins), Sam Aldegheri (Triple-A, Angels), and Cole Messina (Double-A, Rockies).
Additionally, Kodai Senga was activated after being sent down last weekend by the Mets. Senga struck out eight over six innings against Worcester and allowed just one run for Syracuse (AAA).
