It’s hard to believe but we are already a month into the 2026 Minor League Baseball campaign. This week saw several notable players in Triple-A put up big numbers, including Noelvi Marte of the Reds. Plus, some big arms in High-A put up fantastic weeks.
It was a very good week for two hitters looking to work their way back to the Majors: Noelvi Marte & Michael Toglia.
The duo, both with the Reds’ affiliate in Louisville, led the International League in hits over the past week. Marte had the most with 14, three of which were extra-base hits, plus a league-high six stolen bases. As for Toglia, the former Rockie had 12 hits and two home runs for the Bats.
This past week’s leaderboard was filled with other former Major Leaguers. Aaron Schunk had 11 hits for Triple-A Gwinnett, while Jeferson Quero had ten over six games, including two home runs.
And as for the Pacific Coast League, former National Joey Meneses led that circuit with 13 hits for Triple-A Las Vegas.
The White Sox are heavy with high-end pitching prospects, and one of those notables has already made his MLB debut. But there is more depth in that system, including Double-A pitcher & former Texas Longhorn Lucas Gordon.
Gordon, a sixth-round pick from UT in 2023, led the Southern League in strikeouts (11) and total swings-and-misses (34) on the week. It was a much better run for the left-hander, who was hit hard earlier in the season and still has an ERA north of 6.00 this season.
Also in the top ten in the swing-and-miss category amongst Double-A pitchers from this past week were Owen Murphy (24), Jamie Arnold (22), and Jurrangelo Cijntje (21).
Several notable pitchers in High-A had strong weeks.
Red Sox pitcher Anthony Eyanson (55.9% Whiff%) struck out nine over 4.1 IP scoreless innings for Greenville, lowering his season ERA to below 1.00. Cole Hertzler (52.9% Whiff%) of the Astros struck out eight over four innings for Asheville.
Both Eyanson and Hertzler are in the top ten of the South Atlantic League in total strikeouts.
Meanwhile, in the Northwest League, Rockies prospect Brody Brecht (46.2% Whiff%) struck out seven for Spokane across seven innings. Brecht did not allow a hit in his lone outing with the Indians.
Here’s a look at the other notable performers from the last week:
