The Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers have split the first two contests of their four-game series. Now, the two teams head to their third showdown at Fenway Park on Sunday.

Boston won its first meeting against Detroit on Friday 1-0, with outfielder Jarren Duran recording the lone run of the game after pinch-hitter Masataka Yoshida hit a grounder in the 10th inning.

On Saturday, however, the Red Sox couldn't prevent the Tigers from scoring. A three-run fourth inning, highlighted by Kerry Carpenter's home run, allowed Detroit to take a 4-0 lead before securing a 4-1 victory.

The Red Sox have struggled to start the season, dropping to 8-12 following Saturday's loss. They won just two games in their first 10 outings, and while they have improved over the past two weeks, they still have a lot to work on to get back to contention.

As Alex Cora's team focuses on turning things around early in the season, though, the Red Sox encountered an issue ahead of their game against the Tigers, as they were forced to make a scheduling change due to inclement weather.

In an announcement on social media, the Red Sox revealed that the start time of the contest has been moved to 4:35 p.m. The game was initially scheduled to start at 1:35 p.m., but a rain forecast at that time prompted the change.

According to the Red Sox, they consulted the MLB before making the decision, adding that the new start time "provides the best opportunity to play the game on Sunday."

"The Red Sox have moved the start time of their game tomorrow, Sunday, April 19, against the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park from 1:35 p.m. to 4:35 p.m.," the Red Sox shared.

"The change was made in consultation with Major League Baseball due to a forecast for an extended period of rain from mid-day into the afternoon. The 4:35 p.m. start time corresponds with a projected window of improved weather conditions later in the afternoon and provides the best opportunity to play the game on Sunday. Tickets for tomorrow's game will be good for admission at the newly scheduled time."

It remains to be seen how the inclement weather and the field conditions will affect both teams. Regardless, the Red Sox really need a win and some positive momentum before they face off against their fellow AL East teams.

After the Tigers series, the Red Sox will play three games each against the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays, respectively.
