Neither player has debuted in MLB. Perales, the pitcher Boston parted with, has spent his entire professional career in the Red Sox organization since signing as an international prospect out of Venezuela. At just 22 years old, he projects as a potential starter if he can advance beyond the Triple-A level.

Bennett, meanwhile, was the Nationals’ second-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. The 25-year-old left-hander has yet to reach Triple-A but has impressed in two minor league seasons, posting a 2.67 ERA across 34 games. His profile suggests he is more of a long-term piece for Boston rather than an immediate contributor.

For the Red Sox, the acquisition reflects their continued emphasis on building pitching depth.
