Report: Nets owner Joseph Tsai won't buy New York Mets

Don't expect to see Brooklyn Nets owner Joseph Tsai linking with former New York Yankees great Alex Rodriguez and pop superstar Jennifer Lopez to buy the New York Mets.

On Monday, reports emerged that the A-Rod/J-Lo partnership was working with billionaire entrepreneur and businessman Mike Repole to buy the Mets and, potentially, cable television network SNY.

That story took an interesting turn later in the day when Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy teased he could also be part of a purchasing team.

On Tuesday, though, Sportico's Scott Soshnick tweeted Tsai was out due to the relationship he and the Nets have with YES Network and the New York Yankees.

YES is the local cable TV home of live Nets games.

Rodriguez and Lopez reportedly ended their pursuit of the Mets earlier this year after majority owner Fred Wilpon refused to add SNY in the deal. On Monday, though, Katherine Acquavella of CBS Sports hinted that may no longer be an obstacle for any would-be buyers, which could explain why so many noteworthy wealthy individuals have been mentioned in rumors of potential purchasers this week.
