Report reveals Rafael Devers’ future with Giants

Rafael Devers is not expected to leave the Bay Area anytime soon.

The hard-hitting Dominican has been one of the few bright spots on a San Francisco Giants roster set to miss the postseason for a fifth straight year. The team sits at 63-89 with 10 games left in the regular season.

Devers’ 2026 campaign was cut short last week when it was announced that he was being placed on the 60-day IL due to a core muscle injury. With Devers out for the next several months, some wondered whether the Giants would consider moving on from the three-time All-Star.

MLB Network’s Jon Morosi does not believe that to be the case. He reported Tuesday on “MLB Central” that the chances of the Giants putting Devers on the trade block are slim to none.

“Rafael Devers, this season, has proven that his future is in San Francisco,” Devers said.

“Right now, I see almost no chance of him changing teams this winter. … Rafael Devers, great season in San Francisco. The best there is yet to come.”

Morosi cited that Devers’ production this season, which may earn him a few MVP votes, has swayed the Giants into keeping him as a core piece of the team going forward. There were rumblings that Devers was available before the trade deadline, but San Francisco ultimately held on to him.

Devers is in the third year of a 10-year, $313.5 million contract he signed with the Boston Red Sox. So far, he’s played like a player deserving of that type of money.

The 29-year-old batted .258 with 37 home runs, 98 RBIs, and an OPS of .865. He also recorded 36 doubles, which was tied for the best in MLB through Tuesday’s slate of games.
