The son of MLB legend Robinson Cano is embarking on a career of his own.
Robinson Cano Jr., the 16-year-old son of the longtime Yankee and Mariner star, is signing with the Miami Marlins, according to MLB writer Mike Rodriguez. The Marlins’ pre-agreement with Cano Jr. is reported to be worth $1 million.
According to my sources, Robinson Canó Jr., son of former Major League star Robinson Canó, has agreed to a $1 million pre-agreement with the Miami Marlins. Another promising Dominican prospect making his way onto the Major League radar! #MiamiMarlins #MLB #Baseball https://t.co/OY4xHDTsNY

Cano Jr. cannot legally sign with the Marlins until 2028, owing to his age. He can officially sign with the organization in January of 2028.
The younger Cano, a right-hand hitting shortstop, is a legitimate prospect out of the Dominican Republic. The $1 million price tag suggests he had significant interest from around the league, but the Marlins ultimately won the race.
Robinson Cano was one of the finest players of his era, and was on a Hall of Fame career track until he tested positive for PEDs twice. That probably dashes his Hall hopes, but his son will at least get the opportunity to carry the family legacy forward.
