Rockies Make Stance Clear on Potential Hunter Goodman Trade

The Colorado Rockies are not actively shopping breakout catcher Hunter Goodman, but they are listening. According to MLB Network insider Mark Feinsand, Colorado has set an "extremely high" asking price for the 26-year-old despite interest from several contenders before Monday's MLB trade deadline.

The Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays are among the clubs that have checked in, though any deal would require a significant prospect package for the Rockies to move one of their most productive hitters.

Goodman has emerged as Colorado's biggest offensive threat this season, leading the club in home runs, RBIs and runs scored. His combination of power, affordability and team control through 2029 has given the Rockies little reason to rush into a trade.

That leverage is especially important in a thin catching market. While rival evaluators have questioned Goodman's receiving and framing behind the plate, his bat has outweighed those concerns, making him one of the most desirable position players potentially available.

The Rockies also value the fact that Goodman's production has translated away from Coors Field, strengthening the belief that his breakout is sustainable rather than park-driven.

Colorado entered Saturday with a 43-67 record, last in the National League West and well out of postseason contention. Even so, the front office appears comfortable holding onto Goodman unless another club presents an offer that accelerates the organization's long-term rebuild.

With three seasons of club control remaining after 2026, the Rockies are under no pressure to move him before Monday's deadline. Feinsand's report suggests Colorado is willing to listen, but only if a contender is prepared to meet what the club views as Goodman's premium value.
