DENVER — The Colorado Rockies have promoted Chase Dollander, a top-100 MLB prospect, from Triple-A Albuquerque to the major leagues. The 23-year-old right-hander is ranked No. 24 (No.7 per Baseball America) on MLB.com’s Top 100 Prospects list. He joins the Rockies’ rotation with a chance to make an immediate impact. The Rockies announced the move via social media Friday afternoon. Dollander is slated to make his debut start on Sunday afternoon at Coors Field against the Athletics.

Dollander’s call-up follows an impressive stint in the minors. The Rockies drafted him ninth overall in the 2023 MLB Draft from the Tennessee Volunteers. He excelled across multiple levels in his first professional season in 2024. Starting with High-A Spokane, Dollander posted a 2.59 ERA over 118 innings, striking out 169 batters, according to MLB.com. His dominance continued after a mid-season promotion to Double-A Hartford, where he recorded a 2.25 ERA and a 10.9 K/9 rate across 48 innings in nine starts.

Dollander began this season in Triple-A, debuting with a quality start that “cemented his readiness for the majors”, per MiLB.com. In that game, pitching for the Albuquerque Isotopes, Dollander struck out five across four innings, giving up six hits and one earned run. His strong fastball, changeup, and breaking ball have all garnered praise during his minor league tenure.

For the Rockies, who finished 2024 with a 61-101 record last season and are off to a 1-5 start this year, Dollander’s arrival is a glimmer of hope. MLB.com highlights his potential as a mid-rotation starter with ace upside, though, like any Rockies pitcher, Coors Field will test his command. Dollander’s call-up marks a pivotal step in Colorado’s rebuild, relying on his arm to help turn the tide in 2025.
