
Even though the Braves secured yet another series win with a blowout victory over the Rockies Saturday night, it was an anxious Sunday morning as fans awaited news on Ronald Acuña Jr., who left in the second inning with what the club called a hamstring injury.
Hamstring injuries are always tricky to recover from, generally resulting in players missing at least a few weeks. However, a full on tear could potentially cost Acuña months.
Thankfully, it appears the former NL MVP avoided disaster. He has been placed on the 10-day IL, but the Braves are calling it a hamstring strain. Additionally, the club has selected the contract of Jose Azocar to come up in his place. They’ve also recalled Spencer Strider, who will make his season debut this afternoon.

We won’t know more on Acuña until we hear from Walt Weiss and the Braves staff, which should happen later in the day, but this seems like undoubtedly the best case scenario. He should be able to rejoin the club well before the All-Star break, and it’s possible it’s only something that keeps him out 2-3 weeks.
