After spending part of 2023 with the Tampa Bay Rays , veteran reliever Chris Devenski is headed back to Tampa Bay after signing a new deal on Tuesday.
Per Marc Topkin, Rays' reporter, who is following the team at the Winter Meetings in Nashville.
Devenski gets $1M from #Rays in 2024, with some incentives and escalators, then $2M for 2025 if option is picked up or $100 buyout. Also has incentives in 2025

That's obviously a slight typo, as we're sure that the buyout is actually $100,000.
The 33-year-old reliever finished his 2023 season with the Rays, helping Tampa Bay win 99 games and advance to the American League wild card round. They were beaten in two games by the eventual World Series champion Texas Rangers.
Devenski began the year with the Los Angeles Angels and went a combined 6-4 with a 4.46 ERA. He struck out 42 batters in 42.1 innings.
Devenski just finished his eighth year in the big leagues with the Rays, Angels, Phillies, Diamondbacks and Astros. He made his true mark with the Astros, pitching with Houston from 2016-2020. He helped the Astros win the 2017 World Series, when they beat the Los Angeles Dodgers.
A changeup specialist, Devenski should figure to be a big part of the Rays' pitching staff. It's a pitching staff that is already decimated by injury as Shane McClanahan, Drew Rasmussen and Jeffrey Springs are all expected to miss significant time (if not the entirety) next season.
On top of that, the Rays could possibly trade Tyler Glasnow this offseason.
