The 'Most 250-K MLB seasons' quiz

Happy 38th birthday to five-time MLB All-Star, two-time Cy Young winner, 2018 ERA-title winner and 2015 National League Rookie of the Year, Jacob deGrom!

At his healthy peak, deGrom has been one of the most dominant pitchers of his generation. From 2015-19, he recorded four 200-strikeout seasons and in 2018 posted an MLB-best 1.70 ERA for his first of back-to-back National League Cy Young awards with the New York Mets. 

But from 2021-24, major injuries kept deGrom off the mound before and after his trade from the Mets to the Texas Rangers. In 2025, however, it seemed the veteran was getting back to his old form. He made 30 starts – his most in a season since 2019, striking out 185 in 172 2/3 innings and a return to the Midsummer Classic. 

So far in 2026, deGrom has made 14 starts in his 13th Major League season for a Rangers team currently just behind the Mariners and Athletics in the American League West.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. DeGrom is one of 25 pitchers in MLB history with multiple 250-strikeout seasons in their career. How many of those pitchers can you name in five minutes?
