Paul Skenes is very good. The Pittsburgh Pirates at 15-33 are...not. That's how the 2024 National League Rookie of the Year tossed his first-career complete game but still went home with a loss on his record.
Skenes threw eight innings of one run ball with three hits and nine strikeouts during Rivalry Weekend against the Philadelphia Phillies, becoming the first Pirate ever to do so and lose as Pittsburgh failed to muster a single run for the eighth time in 2025.
With the Buccos heading for yet another losing season, the rumblings of Skenes being dealt at the deadline will only get louder.
Which brings us to today's quiz. Skenes is expected to be the face of the next generation of pitchers and for the most part has lived up to expectations early on. With that being said, how many of the last players from every MLB franchise to win Rookie of the Year can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
