Happy birthday to one of the most important figures in the history of Major League Baseball, Jackie Robinson!
Making his MLB debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947, Robinson became the first African-American player to play in Major League Baseball. Hitting .297 with 12 home runs and 48 RBI, he was named 1947 Rookie of the Year. In 1949, he posted a National League-best .342 while driving in 124 and leading all of baseball with 37 stolen bases en route to being named MVP.
By the time he retired after the 1956 season, Robinson racked up seven All-Star selections and a World Series title to go with his batting title, Rookie of the Year award, and MVP en route to the Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 1962.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to win National League MVP can you name in 10 minutes?
Good luck!
