A lighthearted debate over who’s the best player on the Athletics has turned into a good-natured “feud” between rising A’s star Nick Kurtz and baseball personality Jared Carrabis, and the disagreement centers on a name every Oakland fan knows well: Shea Langeliers.

The back-and-forth started when Dallas Braden flagged tension between the two, prompting Carrabis to clear the air directly with Kurtz.

“Alright, so Dallas Braden said that you and I have beef because I said you were the best player on the A’s, but you said that Shea Bangeliers [Shea Langeliers] is the best player on the A’s,” Carrabis said. “Are we in an agreement now that you’re the best player on the A’s? Where are we at now with our relationship?”

Kurtz didn’t back down from his stance.

“We are going to disagree still, so we got beef,” Kurtz replied.

Carrabis pressed further, seeking clarity on where Kurtz truly stands.

“So, Bangeliers is the best player on the A’s?” Carrabis asked.

Kurtz doubled down, making his loyalty to his teammate clear.

“He is the best catcher in baseball,” Kurtz said.

While Kurtz has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting young bats in Oakland’s system, his refusal to crown himself over Langeliers speaks to the kind of team-first mentality building within the A’s clubhouse. Langeliers, meanwhile, has continued to establish himself as one of the game’s premier defensive catchers, backing up Kurtz’s praise with performance behind the plate.

The exchange, playful as it is, highlights the camaraderie forming around Oakland’s young core as the organization looks toward a brighter future. Beef or not, both players seem to agree on one thing: the A’s are building something worth talking about.

Whether Carrabis and Kurtz ever settle the debate remains to be seen, but for now, the “beef” is all in good fun, fueled by mutual respect rather than any real animosity.
