Toronto Blue Jays Sign Starting Pitcher

The Toronto Blue Jays have had an interesting offseason, to say the least being linked to some of the top free agents such as Juan Soto, Teoscar Hernandez, and more. They have added though as they’ve brought in Andres Gimenez and Myles Straw via trade with the Cleveland Guardians. They’ve signed outfielder Anthony Santander, and relievers Yimi Garcia, and Jeff Hoffman. Then yesterday they signed Max Scherzer to a one-year, $15.5 million deal. The rotation in Toronto now appears to be Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios, Chris Bassitt, Scherzer, and Bowden Francis.

Max Scherzer

Scherzer is entering his 18th season. He’s appeared in 466 games with 457 of those coming as starts. He is 216-112 with a 3.16 ERA, a 3.18 FIP, a 1.08 WHIP, a 2.4 BB/9, and a 10.7 K/9. Last season in nine starts he went 2-4 with a 3.95 ERA, a 4.18 FIP, a 1.15 WHIP, a 2.1 BB/9, and an 8.3 K/9. Scherzer is a two-time World Series champion, an eight-time All-Star, and a three-time Cy Young Award winner.
