The New York Yankees recorded an important win against the Houston Astros on Saturday after losing Game 1 on Friday. They sit third in the AL East with a 62–55 record. To make the playoffs, they can't afford to drop any more games.

Trent Grisham delivered the clutch moment, smashing a full-count, eighth-inning homer into the second deck to break a 4–4 tie. His go-ahead blast off Bryan King gave the Yankees a 5–4 win, rescuing the bullpen.

He was named Player of the Game after going 3-for-4 with a home run, a run scored and an RBI.

Luis Gil settled into a strong start (5.1 IP, seven strikeouts), limiting Houston to two earned runs. Aaron Judge scored twice and walked twice, Cody Bellinger had two hits and Giancarlo Stanton drove in two.

David Bednar escaped a bases-loaded jam with two strikeouts to seal the win.

For Houston, Jeremy Peña homered and Framber Valdez was charged with four runs in the loss.

Joe Girardi Predicted as Replacement for Aaron Boone

The Yankees are on the verge of a managerial change. They opened this season as one of the best teams in the league, but judging by their recent stretch, no one would guess that. Their performance tanked mainly after the Boston Red Sox swept them back in June, which has kicked off talks about replacing Aaron Boone.

"One of the strong contenders is Joe Girardi," Adda E. Lavalle Lara wrote for AlBat. "With a winning history in the Bronx, Girardi led the Yankees to their last title in 2009."

"Although his bullpen management was criticized during his time with the Philadelphia Phillies, his experience and knowledge of the New York market could be just what the team needs to get back on track." She added.
